Teaching Academy accepting proposals for spring conference
The Academy of Teaching spring conference returns with the theme "Pandemic Pedagogies."  Planned as an in-person experience in May, proposals are being accepted through February.  Instructors who innovated new approaches to community-engaged teaching and learning should consider presenting.

Course Spotlight: Ohio Field School 2022 - Woodlands in Community Life
The Center for Folklore Studies, as part of its mission to coordinate and support folklore and cultural documentation throughout the state of Ohio, has been building relationships with community partners in Appalachian counties of Southeast Ohio since 2016.  This year's field school will take place during the first six-week summer session and explore the role of woodlands and forest-based knowledge in fostering a sense of place in southeastern Ohio.  The course is open to undergraduate and graduate students.  Information sessions will be held on Friday, Feb. 4 and Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 4-5pm at the Center for Folklore Studies, 218 Ohio Stadium (between gates 18-20).

Submit your course for the new GE
Courses can now be submitted for inclusion in the new GE, launching Autumn 2022!  The course submission process varies depending on which section of the GE curriculum the course fits into, Foundation or Themes.  Service-learning is included as an Integrative Practice choice within the Themes.  These courses must submit a Service-Learning Course Inventory form.  Course submission forms, instructions, and support materials can be found at the link below, and the Office of Service-Learning can assist with course development.

Upcoming Events
Summer Intensive on Community-Engaged Scholarship
Michigan State University's Office for University Outreach and Engagement is hosting the 5th annual Summer Intensive on Community-Engaged Scholarship.  The target audience is early-career faculty and advanced graduate students who are interested in community-engaged research and teaching.  Through interactive workshops, field trips, lightning talks, case studies, panel discussions, and individual consultations over five days, June 6-10, participants will explore issues related to community-engagement and develop plans for their own successful engagement efforts.  Applications are due by April 4.
