Welcome and Welcome Back!
With the Autumn semester now underway, we want to welcome new colleagues, colleagues who are reengaging with community-based efforts, and everyone who is continuing to adapt their community-engaged teaching to meet the needs of our community and Ohio State students!  As always, we are here to support you with consultations and resources, such as our Lending Library<https://u.osu.edu/servicelearning/resources/s-l-lending-library/>.  Later this semester look for a new website, an introductory workshop, a course development grant announcement, and a new staff member!
Engaged Scholarship Faculty Community of Practice
The next meeting of the Engaged Scholarship Faculty Community of Practice will take place on Sept. 30 from 2:30-4pm.  The Office of Outreach and Engagement works to advance the scholarship of engagement and raise its profile at the university.  Faculty whose work is in any way focused on connecting the university with the community are invited to participate.

Submit your course for the new GE
Courses can now be submitted for inclusion in the new GE, launching Autumn 2022!  The course submission process varies depending on which section of the GE curriculum the course fits into, Foundation or Themes.  Service-learning is included as an Integrative Practice choice within the Themes and qualifies for 4 credits.  Course submission forms, instructions, and support materials can be found at the link below, and the Office of Service-Learning can assist with any questions.

Support funds available for new or revised Integrative Practices courses in the new GE
The Office of Academic Affairs is making funding available to help support faculty and staff work on the new General Education.  These funds specifically target efforts that lead to new or revised courses for the Race, Ethnic and Gender Diversity Foundation; new or revised "Integrative Practice" (4-credit) courses in any Theme (including service-learning courses in any Theme); and working groups developing a proposal for new themes.  These funds are available to tenure track, clinical track, and associated faculty on any campus.  Requests for funds will be made to OAA through college curricular deans; please contact your dean's office for details and help in developing a proposal.

Campus Compact Impact Awards now accepting applications and nominations
Campus Compact's Impact Awards recognize faculty, community engagement professionals, and academic institutions for their transformational leadership in advancing the public purposes of higher education.  Individuals may be nominated by a colleague or submit an application on their own behalf.  Applications are due Sept. 15.

Events
Virtual 2021 Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference
The 2021 annual meeting of ESC will take place virtually, Sept. 13-15, and explore the theme of "Creating Connections and Expanding Possibilities."  Ohio State faculty, staff, and students qualify for ESC member pricing.  Registration closes Sept. 3.

Campus Compact Anti-Racist Community Engaged Learning Event
On Sept. 20, 11am-4pm, Campus Compact will be hosting a virtual national dialogue with leading scholars on advancing best practices in anti-racist community-engaged pedagogy.  Faculty, civic engagement and DEI staff, graduate students, academic administrators, and community partners are invited to attend.
