2020 Service-learning close next week!
The application for the 2020 Service-Learning Course Grant closes on February 4 (next Tuesday).  Any Ohio State instructor who would like to create a new service-learning course or improve an existing course with service-learning is invited to apply.  This includes courses offered at the regional campuses, and undergraduate or graduate level courses.  Please consider applying and inviting your colleagues to consider service-learning.

Nominations for the University Outreach & Engagement Awards close tomorrow!
This year awards will honor faculty, staff, students, and community partners for outstanding achievement in producing engaged scholarship and community impact in three broad categories: Community Engaged Program (5 awards), Community Engaged Scholar (3 awards), and Community Partner (1 award).  Service-learning courses are considered programs/initiatives eligible for the Community Engaged Program Awards.  Separate service-learning awards will not be given this year.  Please help us celebrate engaged teaching efforts by nominating yourself or a colleague for the University Outreach & Engagement Awards!  Deadline to submit an application/nomination is January 31, 2020.

Student Academic Success Research Grants program seeking applications
The Student Academic Success Research (SASR) Grants program (funded by OSAS, ODI, and ODEE) supports research on enrollment and academic performance and encourages research focusing on underrepresented minority students, open-access campus students and/or the usage and impact of learning technology.  Do you think your service-learning courses may be having a positive impact on underrepresented students?  Here's your chance to study it!  Applications are due by March 13.

UITL announces Research and Implementation Grant Program
The Institute for Teaching and Learning (UITL) is requesting proposals for projects that advance implementation and/or research of instructional best practices in OSU courses and make contributions to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) or Discipline-based Education Research (DBER).  Only faculty who have completed Components 1 and 2 of the UITL Teaching Support Program are eligible for a UITL grant.

Registration for Compact20 national conference is now open
The Campus Compact National Conference will take place March 29 - April 1, 2020 in Seattle, WA.  The conference will explore the theme: The Promise of Full Participation: Democracy, Opportunity, Voice.  Presentations representing work undertaken through public, private, two-year, four-year, and graduate colleges and universities, along with organizations outside of higher education, including community-based partners will be included.  Discounted registration is available to all faculty and staff of Ohio State as a Campus Compact member institution.

Registration open for 2020 IIUPUI Research Academy
Convened from May 13-15 on the IUPUI campus, the Research Academy is an intense, interactive 3-day workshop designed to develop research, assessment, and evaluation skills, learn about methods, and develop a research and/or assessment project on high impact practices or other engaged learning.

The International Journal for Research on Service-Learning & Community Engagement Call for Manuscripts
The IJRSLCE Editors have issued a call for manuscripts for Volume 8 of the International Journal of Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement. The Editors are seeking submissions that reflect the breadth of scholarship in the service-learning and community engagement field, with articles from different disciplines and countries, reflecting a range of methodologies. The Journal has five main sections: (1) Advances in Theory and Methodology; (2) Community Partnerships and Impacts; (3) Faculty Roles and Institutional Issues; (4) International Service-Learning and Community Engagement Research; and (5) Student Outcomes - Primary, Secondary, and Higher Education. In addition, there is a Book Review section.  The deadline for submissions for Volume 8 is May 15.
