Ohio State Service-Learning News
OAE Strategic Planning Underway
As many of you know, Service-Learning is now part of the Office of Academic Enrichment (OAE) within the Office of Student Academic Success (OSAS). OAE is embarking on a strategic planning process to develop a 3-year strategic plan for OAE, to commence in Au20. This plan will support the OSAS strategic plan with corresponding initiatives, action items, timelines, metrics, and accountabilities. Subcommittees for Service-Learning, University Honors & Scholars Center, STEP, and Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry will work during this process to develop practice-specific priorities that OAE will strategically combine to leverage operational synergies.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates as this process unfolds! There will be many opportunities for stakeholders to provide input into the process over the next few months.

Community Partner Highlight
With a new school year upon us, now is a great time to consider the Columbus Metropolitan Library, one of our largest community partners. All CML locations have a Homework Help Center for K-12 students, and Ohio State students are an important part of these Centers as volunteers. Any course can easily incorporate service at the HHCs as an introduction to service-learning. Additionally, CML's volunteer coordinating team is open to working with Ohio State faculty to develop unique service activities for your course. From language, literacy and youth development to technology literacy and STEM fields, CML has an impressive impact on our community and can help your students apply their learning to help the community!

IARSCLE and Imagining America conferences to take place in Albuquerque this October
The International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) and Imagining America will both hold their annual events in mid-October in Albuquerque this year. This provides a convenient opportunity to attend two impactful conferences. Imagining America's 20th Anniversary National Gathering will take place Oct. 17-19, with belonging, indigeneity, and migration as framing concepts for consideration of how we define, design, and foster belonging in our home communities and as a nation state. IARSLCE's annual conference will take place Oct. 23-25, focusing on research taking place in distinct locations around the globe as well as efforts to understand engagement that crosses international and other borders.
