2020 Service-learning grants now open
The application for the 2019-2020 Service-Learning Course Grants is now available.  Any Ohio State instructor who would like to create a new service-learning course or improve an existing course with service-learning is invited to apply.  This includes courses offered at the regional campuses and undergraduate or graduate level courses.  Please consider applying and inviting your colleagues to consider service-learning.  Applications are due February 4, 2020.

Nominations for the University Outreach & Engagement Awards now being accepted
This year, awards will honor faculty, staff, students, and community partners for outstanding achievement in producing engaged scholarship and community impact in three broad categories: Community Engaged Program (5 awards), Community Engaged Scholar (3 awards), and Community Partner (1 award).  Service-learning courses are considered programs/initiatives eligible for the Community Engaged Program Awards.  Separate service-learning awards will not be given this year.  Please help us celebrate engaged teaching efforts by nominating yourself or a colleague for the University Outreach & Engagement Awards!  Deadline to submit an application/nomination is January 31, 2020.

GE Implementation Committee requesting feedback
The High-Impact Practices Subcommittee requests feedback by January 6, 2020 on the draft report on high-impact practices in the new General Education and draft integrative thematic service-learning course requirements.  If you teach a service-learning course that currently includes GE credit or would like to under the new GE, please read the drafts and provide feedback.

UITL announces Research and Implementation Grant Program
The Ohio State University Institute for Teaching and Learning (UITL) is requesting proposals for projects that advance implementation and/or research of instructional best practices in OSU courses and make contributions to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) or Discipline-based Education Research (DBER).  Only faculty who have completed Components 1 and 2 of the UITL Teaching Support Program are eligible for a UITL grant.

Registration for Compact20 national conference is now open
The Campus Compact National Conference will take place March 29 - April 1, 2020 in Seattle, WA.  The conference will explore the theme: The Promise of Full Participation: Democracy, Opportunity, Voice.  Presentations representing work undertaken through public, private, two-year, four-year, and graduate colleges and universities, along with organizations outside of higher education, including community-based partners will be included.  Discounted registration is available to all faculty and staff of Ohio State as a Campus Compact member institution.

Registration open for Ohio Inspiring Practices for Student Success in Undergrad Ed Meeting
Hosted by the Gardner Institute at Capital University, this one-day meeting on February 26 will bring Ohio's most passionate student success professionals from all types of institutions together to focus on Inspiring Student Success in Ohio.  Pre-conference workshops on transfer student success or increasing faculty participation in student success efforts will take place on February 25.  Early bird registration deadline is January 10.

Engaged Scholarship & Social Justice Undergraduate Research Conference now accepting proposals
The ESSJ Undergrad Research Conference will be held on April 16 & 17, at Harvard College in Cambridge MA.  Research proposals for the conference are currently being accepted until February 10.  This conference is an opportunity for both faculty and undergraduates interested in community engaged scholarship to come together as a community of established and emerging scholars.  Please consider encouraging your students to apply.
