2019 Community Engagement Conference Call for Proposals

Proposals are now being accepted for Ohio State's second annual Community Engagement Conference, January 23-24, 2019, at the Ohio Union.  The conference will bring together faculty, staff, students, and community partners to focus on professional development and making connections, while exploring new potential engagement partnerships.  The theme of this year's conference is Partnering for a Resilient and Sustainable Future.  Proposals are due by October 3, 2018.

Panel Discussion: Can transportation make Columbus a more equitable community?

The Center for Urban and Regional Analysis (CURA) invites you to the first of three events on the topic Mobility and Equity.   The panel event on Friday, Sept. 14 at 12pm in Room 165, Thompson Library, will feature representatives from the North Linden Area Commission, Smart Columbus, Transit Columbus, Empowerbus, and Age Friendly Columbus.  Light refreshments will be served before the panel, which will begin promptly at noon.

Connect and Collaborate funding available for faculty, staff, and students
The Connect and Collaborate Grants Program incentivizes Ohio State-community teams to develop and grow meaningful partnerships that catalyze engaged teaching, research, and service programs with measurable and sustainable benefits to the community while advancing the strategic and scholarly goals of the university.  Grants up to $70,000 are available.  Letters of intent are due Tuesday, Oct. 2.  An information session will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 10am in the Research Commons.

Kirwan Institute launches free Implicit Bias Training
Do you work with K-12 students in your research or service-learning courses? Consider using the new free online Implicit Bias Training focused on the K-12 education system from the Kirwan Institute.  This interactive website houses resources that can help you and your students working with the K-12 population better understand the biases that shape our behaviors and the effects those biases have across all aspects of our society, especially education
