Apply or nominate someone for the University Engagement Recognition Awards!
On behalf of the university, the Offices of Outreach and Engagement, International Affairs, Service-Learning, Student Life, and Undergraduate Education recognize faculty, staff, students, and community partners with the University Engagement Recognition Awards program.  Awards will be given in the community engagement, international engagement, service-learning, staff, student, student group, and community partner categories.  A total of $17,500 will be awarded.  Applications or nominations are due Wednesday, February 28.

Civitan-Rosen scholarship for volunteer-minded students

Full-time undergrad, graduate students, and high school seniors who volunteer or perform community service may be eligible for the Civitan-Rosen scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing careers and activities that further the ideals and purposes of Civitan, as well as the interests and ideals of Dr. Sam Rosen. There are no financial or academic requirements.  Encourage your students to apply!

Webinar watch gathering: Equity and Inclusion for the 1% (not THAT 1%)

The Office of Service-Learning and the Office of Military & Veteran Services are collaborating to further the conversation on campus around supporting student veterans.  Join us on Thursday, March 15 at 3pm in SAS 421 for a webinar event presented by Campus Compact on Equity and Inclusion for the 1% (not THAT 1%): Student Veterans in Higher Education.  The webinar will discuss an initiative called SECond Mission: Service|Education|Careers to support access to and success in higher education for Veterans and military-affiliated students, a group of students that is disproportionately nonwhite, living with a service-related disability, living in poverty, and earning less than their peers if they are employed.  We will watch the webinar together and discuss Ohio States resources for student veterans.

Save the Date: Ohio Campus Compact 2018 Annual Meeting
The annual statewide service-learning conference of Ohio Campus Compact will take place August 2 and 3.  Pre-conference activities will be August 2 at Otterbein University, with the conference on August 3 at Ohio State's Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center.  Proposals for conference sessions can be submitted until March 2.

ESC 2018 call for proposals announced
The Engagement Scholarship Consortium seeks proposals for presentations on engaged scholarship in higher education, including research findings, innovative design and partnership models, proven community/institutional impacts, effective modes of community-engaged learning curricula, collaborative policy development and integration, and/or successful civic engagement practices. Deadline to submit is Friday, March 16, 2018.
