STEP seeks new faculty mentors for 2017-18 academic year
Being a STEP (Second-Year Transformational Experience Program) faculty mentor involves working with a group of 20 second-year students throughout the academic year and providing guidance and opportunities to enrich their academic experiences. Previous STEP faculty mentors say the experience helped them understand students better, gave them a better knowledge of campus resources, enhanced connections with faculty outside of their discipline and improved their teaching.

University Engagement Recognition Awards accepting applications
The Offices of Outreach and Engagement, International Affairs, Service-Learning, Student Life and Undergraduate Education have joined together to recognize faculty, staff, students and community partners with the University Engagement Recognition Awards program. Awards will be given in the community engagement, international engagement, service-learning, staff, student, student group and community partner categories. A total of $16,000 will be awarded. Applications are due Feb. 28.

Ohio State Leaderships Awards accepting applications

For over 50 years, the Ohio State Leadership Awards have recognized outstanding student leadership, scholarship, and service.  One award category is designed to recognize student organizations who have demonstrated a commitment to civic engagement, service, advocacy, or activism.  If you work with a student group who you think deserves this award, please encourage them to apply!  The deadline to apply is Monday, February 6th.

Seeking applications for Summer Intensive on Community Engaged Scholarship
Michigan State University's Office of University Outreach and Engagement welcomes faculty, academic staff, and advanced graduate students to five days of workshops, dialogue, and field trips focused on community engaged research and community engaged teaching and learning, including service-learning and community-based research in courses, taking place June 5-9, 2017.  Application deadline is April 7, 2017.

Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference call for proposals open
The Call for Proposals for the 2017 Engagement Scholarship Consortium (ESC) conference is now open through March 15th, 2017. The 18th annual ESC conference will take place in Birmingham, Alabama, on September 26th-27th, 2017.
