IARSLCE Webinar - Five Distinct Components of Global Service-Learning

On Tuesday, May 19th  at 1pm in Oxley Hall room 122, the Office of Service-Learning and the Office of International Affairs will host a viewing of the second webinar in IARSLCE<http://www.researchslce.org/>'s new Advancing Research Webinar series, focusing on global service-learning.  Dr. Eric Hartman and Dr. Richard Kiely, co-founders of globalsl.org, will share their understanding of the distinctive characteristics of the field of global service-learning, clarify the theoretical roots of these characteristics, and share reflection regarding promising opportunities for current and future research.  Ample space for dialogue and discussion on the field of global service-learning will be part of the webinar.

Engaged Scholarship and Community Engagement Workshops for Faculty and Staff
The Office of Outreach and Engagement, the Engagement Scholarship Consortium<http://engagementscholarship.org/>, and Ohio Campus Compact<http://www.ohiocampuscompact.org/>  are co-sponsoring two separate workshops - one for faculty members and one for community engagement staff - on May 18, 2015 in Hale Hall.
8:30 - 11:30 a.m.    Engaged Scholarship Workshop for Faculty
Faculty members are invited to attend "Engaged Scholarship: Making the Case in Promotion and Tenure." This workshop will explore national trends, examine best practices, and provide helpful resources to make the best case for the merit of faculty engaged scholarship as part of a successful promotion and tenure process. The session includes a panel discussion with senior faculty members who will share their engagement scholarship experiences and insight.

12:30 - 3:30 p.m.   Community Engagement Workshop for University Staff
University engagement staff and community partners are invited to attend "Community Engagement: Working with Community Partners." This workshop will explore ways to renew and enhance community-campus partnerships and projects by offering innovative frameworks and strategies to reinvigorate work. The session includes discussion with a panel of community engagement practitioners who will share their experience and insight.
