Ohio State Service-Learning News

Annual Fundraising Campaign is Underway

The annual faculty and staff giving campaign, Campus Campaign 2015, is seeking contributions to support Ohio State's individual programs, projects, and endowments. Many areas rely on these gifts to maintain services and develop and grow programs that support our students, research, and development. As a Campus Campaign donor, you are able to choose where you want your gift to be used according to your interest areas within the university. As a member of the service-learning community at Ohio State, we hope you will consider designating your gift for the Service-Learning Initiative Development Fund (312453). When you visit http://www.osu.edu/giving/philanthropy-programs/campuscampaign/ to make your contribution, click the red 'Give Online or Search for Funds' button at the right and search for the Service-Learning Initiative Development Fund or our fund number 312453. Your contribution helps us continue to connect students, faculty, and community partners through high-quality, impactful service-learning experiences. Thank you for your continued support of service-learning at the Ohio State University.

English 3467S: Issues and Methods in Tutoring Writing

This course, offered Autumn 2015, covers theories and practices in tutoring and writing. The aim of this course is to prepare undergraduates to work with writers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. This class provides a unique opportunity for its members to learn about composition theory and pedagogy, tutoring strategies, and writing center theories and practices in order to put these theories and practices to work in classroom and writing center settings. Students will apprentice as writing consultants/tutors in the University Writing Center. Therefore, in addition to our regularly scheduled class time, each person enrolled in this course will spend approximately one hour per week in the Writing Center.
