Nominees Sought for Emerging and Distinguished Service-Learning Awards  The offices of Outreach and Engagement, International Affairs, Student Life and Undergraduate Education, and the Service Learning Initiative, have joined together to recognize faculty, staff and students with the University Outreach and Engagement Recognition Awards program. We are seeking excellent examples of service-learning partnerships and we encourage you to nominate yourself or a colleague for this honor. Nominations are due on Friday, February 14th. Service-Learning Course Grants Roundtable Session  If you have questions about applying for a Service-Learning grant, this is your chance to get them answered! The Service-Learning Initiative will join the Office of Outreach and Engagement and Ohio State Extension to host a roundtable information session for this year's Outreach and Engagement Grants program. Course Spotlight

In order to help service-learning scholars make connections and learn about new projects, we will seek to highlight a new service-learning course in every newsletter. Courses will be shared both here and in the "Spotlight" section on the front page of our website. Spanish in Ohio: An Experiential Course This course is based around interaction with Hispanic communities in Ohio and intensive and extensive practice with Spanish as spoken by native speakers from the U.S. and abroad. OSU Humanitarian Engineering Seminar Series: Ohio State-Ethiopia One Health Partnership The Ohio State seven Health Science colleges, in partnership with other collaborating units and external partners, launched a mutually beneficial One Health partnership with Ethiopian academic institutes and other governmental research and outreach institutes. The consortium identified key priority areas for engagement including 1) One Health Summer institute - focused on training and workshops; 2) Pilot research activities - including on Rabies, environmental health and cervical
cancer and 3) Resource stewardship - strengthening communications capacity etc. The College
of Engineering, through its various key units such as Environmental engineering, Software
engineering and Humanitarian engineering could play a key role in sustaining this partnership. This discussion will take place on Wednesday, January 15th from 10am-11am in 260 Dreese Laboratory.
