Upcoming Events with the S-LI

The Service-Learning Initiative will be participating in three exciting events on the week of December 16th: A webinar viewing and discussion with Ohio Campus Compact, a Service-Learning Coffee Hour with a special guest, and this year's first information session for the 2014 Engagement Impact Grants. Recognizing Engagement in Academic Promotion, Tenure & Review Processes - An Ohio Campus Compact Webinar and Roundtable: Join The Service-Learning Initiative and OCC to view "Academic Personnel Review and Engagement", a webinar exploring how universities can integrate faculty engagement with academic-review processes and expand institutional understanding of the traditional review categories of research, teaching, and service to reflect engagement achievements. Following the webinar, attendees will discuss and reflect on opportunities to promote engaged scholarship.  This discussion will pave the way for a broader exploration of faculty reward structures that the Office of Academic Affairs will be initiating in the spring semester. Service-Learning Coffee Hour: Theresa Beyerle on University/Community Partnerships Please join us for an informal discussion with Dr. Theresa Beyerle, coordinator of service-learning and undergraduate research at the University of Akron, to discuss her work in building community-university partnerships. Dr. Beyerle will share how service-learning at her institution builds the capacity of local nonprofits and enriches learning for students, and the ways that service-learning has contributed to strengthening the relationship between the university and the community. The event will take place on Tuesday, December 17th at 10am in the 33 W. 11th conference room. Coffee and pastries will be provided. All are welcome, but an RSVP is requested. 2014 Outreach and Engagement Grants Information Session The applications for 2014 Outreach and Engagement Grants are now available! This grant program includes Engagement Impact Grants, OSU CARES/OSU Extension Seed Grants, and our office's Service-Learning Course Grants. If you are interested in applying, we invite you to join us for an information session on Monday, Dec. 16, from noon-1 p.m., in Hale Hall (Room 110B).
