Positions and Opportunities

CSTW Seeks Service-Learning Outreach Consultant The Center For the Study of Teaching and Writing (CSTW) Service-Learning Outreach Consultant will work with the Literacy Outreach Coordinator with the design, development, and marketing of an undergraduate service-learning outreach course that would enroll undergrads from diverse OSU units/colleges to visit elementary and/or high school settings. Graduate student must be available for offsite visits at least once a week Monday through Thursday any time slot between 7:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and/or Wednesday between 4-5 p.m. Must have good, demonstrable experience in all or most of these areas: communication, service learning project work, writing ability, classroom instruction, workshop facilitation, technology, and working with K-12 students. Skills in teaching writing, speaking, curriculum design, and professional writing are highly desirable. Must be computer literate and experienced with Word. Scholastic Book Grants for nonprofit literacy programs The Scholastic Book Grants Program is a corporate in-kind giving initiative that provides high-quality reading materials to children in need. The Company's goal is to ensure that each of its book donations has a significant impact on fostering literacy.  Small-scale (unsolicited) donations of 500-1,000 books are awarded to 501c3 or 170c literacy organizations. Requests from organizations with quality literacy programs focused on serving the needs of at-risk children or families, particularly those living in inner city or rural areas, are more likely to be served. Requests for book donations must indicate intended book use and the grade levels of children to be served.
