Unfortunately, this has sometimes meant that a high school licensed teacher ( like 7-12 math or English) who gets a gifted endorsement could be placed in a first grade self-contained gifted class, regardless of the fact that this is pretty absurd and seems to set this teacher up for failure. Similarly, it would be ridiculous to have an early childhood licensed teacher with a gifted endorsement teaching tenth grade gifted English or AP physics. </div><div> Seniority, rather than qualifications and maximum fit of teachers with students and content, is not the best way to place and assign faculty.
