Advocacy

Gifted Operating Standards

The gifted operating standards are still on hold as the ethics committee reviews
possible conflicts of interest due to several board members links to dual
enrollment/post secondary enrollment. In addition, the Ohio Attorney General's
office has not provided the state board with any guidance on what the impact of
the governor's veto has on the operating standards.

Gifted Performance Indicator

The state board accountability committee continues to work on the gifted
performance indicator. Both ODE staff as well as OAGC presented to the state
board in February. It is not expected that a vote will take place in March. For
more information, please go to [4]www.oagc.com/?q=advocacyupdates.

Mid-biennial Review Legislation

The governor's mid-biennial review is expected to be introduced at any time. It
is clear from the his state of the state speech, that the governor will be
including language regarding College Credit Plus, career tech opportunities, and
possible changes to deregulate public schools. It is unclear what other issues
will be included.

For more information about all advocacy issues, please read the Gifted Advocacy
Update at [5]www.oagc.com/?q=AdvocacyAlert .

ODE New Chart of Approved Assessments

ODE recently released a new chart of [7]approved gifted assessments. There are
several changes that should be noted on the new chart so please review it
carefully.

OAGC Review Articles Needed on Value-Added

Ohio. OAGC is looking for articles on how the subgroup grade has affected
districts across Ohio. If you would like submit something, please email
