Everyone:      As the current school year concludes andplanning continues for summer activities and the 2020-21 school year, the OhioDepartment of Education has issued instructions for all personnel and schooldistricts to upgrade Microsoft computer operating systems to Windows 10. Thecompany no longer supports Windows 7, and this can generate myriad problems -from security, viruses and ransomware concerns to operational features. Theadvisory:     "Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2after Jan. 14, 2020. Microsoft will no longer provide security patches orupdates for these operating systems. When an operating system manufacturer endssupport for an operating system in the middle of the school year, theDepartment maintains support for that operating system until the end of theschool year. Testing support for Windows 7 will no longer be available afterthe 2019-2020 school year. Schools and districts that have not upgraded fromWindows 7 by the end of the school year must plan to do so before the start ofthe 2020-2021 school year."      Fortunately, the transition from Win 7 toWin 10 is easy and intuitive. Win 10 has built-in recovery features, too. Theupgrade is almost a no-brainer, so make the upgrade as soon as possible.
