[Ohiogift] Gifted support, service

Friends:

The Fordham group recently announced two matters that appear less than
positive on gifted ed. One, public support for such ability-grouping
service is mediocre, and two, the solution advocated by the report's author
is a variation on individualized education for each student in a classroom
- the author calls it "personalized pacing." However it's employed, it
seems especially onerous to teachers, and in addition to this. the
advocated tech approach to enhanced/gifted learning seems questionable.
(Fordham, of course, is an avid supporter of charter schools, as well as a
defender of the charter mess in Ohio, but that's another topic.) The report
on poor support for ability grouping and a dominant reliance on technology
as a classroom solution are posited in this Fordham article:

https://fordhaminstitute.org/national/commentary/low-public-support-ability-grouping-opportunity-personalized-pacing?mc_cid=06987dd10f&mc_eid=9d70493813

Perhaps districts statewide have faced these issues, maybe with success.
