Mensa members are a very diverse group and come from all walks of lifeand all races, personality types, ethnic origins and faiths and have a broadrange of interests. All share the common characteristic of high intelligence. TheDayton local group includes over 200 members from elementary school age throughearly 90s and has many regular gatherings and social activities. Thetest is open to anyone age 14 and older, but parental permission is requiredfor those ages 14-17.  The test American Mensa administers is notnormed and validated for persons under 14. Applicants of any age can use priorevidence from a wide variety of other standardized IQ tests to qualify. Mensaalso has a culture-fair, language-neutral, non-timed test given by individualappointment for candidates whose first language is not English or who havetrouble with timed tests.
