National History Club Spring Newsletter!

We are happy to share with you our Spring Newsletter, which features the latest in exciting happenings from history clubs throughout the United States! Our front-page article is written by Wellesley College Professor Guy Rogers, who discusses how learning about Alexander The Great during his childhood led him into the history profession. We are also proud to highlight all the spring award programs of the NHC! From the National History Scholars Society to the "History Student of the Year" to the winners of the "Lessons of Leadership" contest, congratulations to all those recognized!

History Student of the Year

Thanks to the generous support of George Washington's Mount Vernon, the NHC was once again able to co-sponsor the "History Student of the Year" award. This is the 14th consecutive year of the award, which goes to one student in each chapter as nominated by their Advisor. This year's prize was an autographed copy of John Rhodehamel's "George Washington: The Wonder of the Age". Inside each book was a bookplate that Advisors filled out to recognize the student's achievement. We hope all recipients enjoy reading this terrific book!

Lessons of Leadership Contest

The NHC and The HBE Foundation once again co-sponsored the Lessons of Leadership Contest, which encouraged student members to select a figure (local or state-wide) and examine how that person's actions helped make a lasting, positive impact on history. Congratulations to first place winners Felix Li & Birukti Tsige from Malden High School (MA) for their documentary on Elisha S. Converse.
