[Ohiogift] College Board: AP Teacher/GT Workshops

The College Board is interested in helping teachers meet the 30 hour CEU requirement for gifted educators in the state of Ohio by offering a 3 hour workshop, Advanced Placement: An Opportunity for Gifted Learners. This workshop will explore differentiation and curriculum compacting to meet the needs of all students.  Participants will have the opportunity to share best practices for gifted learners in AP and discuss how course placement and other policies may impact options for students.

The competencies that will be addressed are:
*         The ability to differentiate instruction based on student's readiness, knowledge and skill level using accelerated content, complexity, depth challenge, creativity and abstractness
*         The ability to select, adapt or create a variety of differentiated curricula that incorporate advanced conceptually challenging, in-depth, distinctive and complex content
*         The ability to modify the learning process through strategies such as curriculum compacting, and to select alternative assignments and projects based on individual student needs.
*         The ability to select use and interpret technically sound formal and informal assessments for the purpose of academic decision making
