OAGC February News Flash -- Teacher Academy Deadlines, Fall Conference Call
for Proposals, and Advocacy

Professional Development

Teacher Academy

The OAGC Teacher Academy is just around the corner. The deadline for
reduced hotel fees at the Doubletree is March 7th. Please contact the hotel
directly to make your reservation at 614-885-3334.  The deadline for early
registration is March 17th. To register and find updated information about
conference including a draft agenda, small session, and speakers, please go
to [1]www.oagc.com/teacheracademy.asp.  Our keynoter is Diane Heacox, who
will be available for both days of the conference. The Teacher Academy will
be held on March 30th and March 31st, 2015.

Fall Conference

Don't forget the call for proposal for the annual fall conference small
sessions is now available at  [2]www.oagc.com/fallconference.asp .
Proposals are due by March 31st, 2015.

Advocacy

State Budget

The state budget debate is in full swing. The House Finance Primary and
Secondary Education Subcommittee has been meeting for the past two weeks.
Gifted testimony will be on March 18th, 19th, and 20th.  For all budget
news, please watch each Friday as new alerts and updates are posted at

Testing Reductions and Deregulation Bills

Several bills regarding test reduction and education deregulation for
high-performing districts are moving through the House and Senate. For more

Common Core and Gifted

The Fordham Foundation released a new report on common core and gifted
education. You can access this report at

College Credit Plus Presentation

OAGC held a Google Hangout on February 19th on the topic of College Credit
