 Friends:

Scientific American magazine just had a blog announcement on paid (and other) summer research programs in STEM-related fields. The programs are in states from one end of the country to another, with many programs offering similar positions in multiple states. Many of the programs are for high school graduates or college undergrads, while others are for K-6, middle-schoolers, and/or high-schoolers (such as the Army Educational Outreach Program). For more on the AEOP, see:

The U.S. Department of Energy also has numerous STEM opportunities middle- and high-schoolers, here:

The full Scientific American blog post is here:

Also, the OAGC website has a handy, evolving list of summer opportunities, and while a lot of listings are yet to be announced, you should bookmark the site and check it weekly for the latest news and additions, here:
http://www.oagc.com/summerOpportunities.asp
(If you know of any new programs or listings, please feel free to add them now and in weeks ahead to the OAGC site.)

Be sure to read the listings thoroughly, as there is a wealth of information that might help with families checking out summer opportunities, as well as summer-long engagements. Deadlines are getting close, too, for most listings.

Best wishes.,
