[Ohiogift] Educators: Belin Blank survey request

I'm copying the researcher on my response here. First, let me say that I'm always happy when people undertake research about gifted children or their education. Thank you!

I'm writing here just in case the researcher didn't already think to consider these points when writing up the results of her research. 

I'm also writing to express my concern for what's happening in our society as more and more gifted children leave public schools and instead either homeschool or attend private schools. (My goodness...that topic could certainly use some research!)

(1) the survey did not differentiate between educators in public schools and those in private schools
(2) the survey did not take into account the fact that educator training differs quite a bit between those who teach in public and those who teach in private schools, particularly because private school educators need not have teacher certification and sometimes need not have any education courses at all. 
(3) also, unrelated to the public/private issue, the survey forced a troublesome choice between "fully support acceleration" and "fully support enrichment"--what about those of us who fully support both?

You do not need to have classroom experience with either of these to participate in this study. The goals for the 10-to-15-minute survey include assessing the ways professionals are trained to work with gifted learners and gathering information about the breadth and depth of knowledge regarding the practice of academic acceleration and its varying forms.
