[Ohiogift] Supurior Cog reporting

[Gifted and Talented in Ohio Discussion List]

Unless your AP science program is so watered down that the child with the superior cognitive ability is bored out of her mind, I would report her as served, but served badly.  "Superior Cognitive" means, essentially, globally gifted--gifted in nearly everything. Science is part of everything, but it's not everything. 

Handing a superior cognitive kid just one apple, when she's hungry for a bushel of apples, is pretty poor service. But for some kids, one apple is all they want. And for some school districts, one apple is all they can afford.  

Just my two cents.  I'm writing here not with any knowledge of what the Ohio Dept of Ed folks want, but because the question struck a nerve in me this cold Saturday morning, the weekend after I attended NAGC, which is a whole 'nother story.

Can you report a student as served in a specific content area, if not identified in that area? I have received conflicting information on reporting for superio cog students who are not necessarily identified in specific content areas, but may be taking an Honors or AP class.Any information or clarification will be greatly appreciated.
