[Ohiogift] Gifted assessment areas

I am interested in hearing when whole-grade screenings are taking place in districts. I have been asked by my ESC member districts to do a study and make recommendations. It seems like a lot of districts whole-grade screen at the end of 2nd or 3rd. With the Gifted inputs points being heavily weighted in the K-3 grade band, I'm curious if districts are looking to shift to an earlier grade level. If so, what grade and what instruments will be used.

Any and all information is welcomed. I will share the any compiled data.

It is not a requirement yet; however, when the new operating standards are in place there will be requirements for whole grade screening. Some districts may be choosing to go ahead now to pull up their gifted input scores.

This has never been an issue before, but I have a district this year that wants to administer achievement screeners at two grade levels instead of achievement at one grade level(s) and ability at other grade level(sf).

We give the IOWA and the CogAT to all enrolled 2nd and 4th graders in our district.

I have a question for anyone who administers/supervises gifted testing:

Are districts required to give a whole-grade ability screener? This has never been an issue before, but I have a district this year that wants to administer achievement screeners at two grade levels instead of achievement at one grade level(s) and ability at other grade level(sf).

Thanks!
