            Friends:

To augment gifted instruction, does anyone plan to use the resources of OpenStax College? Does anyone have any experience with OpenStax?

Rice University-based nonprofit OpenStax, which has provided free online textbooks to hundreds of thousands of college students attending any of the hundreds of participating colleges and universities (Ohio State and Kent State are among them), has launched a $9 million effort to develop free, digital textbooks capable of delivering personalized lessons to high school students, as well.

OpenStax College texts and learning resources are made available through the support of The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, 20 Million Minds Foundation, the Maxfield Foundation, and Rice University. The K-12 funding is from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation (LJAF).

Overall, OpenSax appears to be a viable option to enhance the learning experience of K-12 students, not to mention reduce book costs for many college students.
