Hi, all:

These books were suggested; thank you to those who recommended them:

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Hugo Cabret series

American Plague

Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry (check for language)

Bull Run

The Phantom Tollbooth (great film from the '70s)

I forgot to mention that the Book Club is for grades 3-5.

Thanks, again,

Chip

Subject: [Ohiogift] Book Club for High-Ability Students (Gr. 3-5)

Hi, everyone:

One of our elementary schools is forming a Book Club for high-ability
readers and is seeking suggested titles/authors. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated. Incidentally, my 5th graders are reading Across Five Aprils
(Irene Hunt), which highlights the growth of a boy as he matures across the
years of the Civil War. They love it, particularly trying to speak the
southern dialect.

Thank ya'll,

Chip
