Just be aware that PARCC and Common Core are not the same thing. PARCC is a set of assessments. The Common Core is a set of academic content and skill standards. I suggest checking out the informational texts suggested in the ELA Common Core Standards and then deciding for yourself whether or not the Common Core standards will inevitably lead to  the development of content-free curriculum: http://www.corestandards.org/assets/Appendix_B.pdf

Whether or not PARCC is a valid and useful measurement tool (and whether it's useful for estimating gifted students' progress) is a largely a separate question. However, if you're interested in looking at actual PARCC sample items, see this link: http://www.parcconline.org/samples/ELA

in the Common Core Standards.
