Education Week is hosting a weekly forum on grouping students by ability. Judging by the posts currently on the site, there is a need for well-informed discussion of this practice.  Participation is open with free registration but the discussion seems to be intended primarily for educators.

Grouping Students by Academic Ability Grouping students by academic ability seems to be back in vogue with a new generation of teachers, according to an analysis of federal teacher data. Do you support this approach? What advantages or disadvantages do you think the practice could present?
