It is definitely still available online - that site also offers a number of additional resources (links on the left).

If you prefer a hard copy to the online version, there is a form you can fill in online to request a hard copy of both Volume I and II (http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/Get_Report.aspx).

If relevant to anyone's district, Volume I can be downloaded in a variety of languages (Arabic<http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/International/ND_v1_ar.pdf>, Chinese<http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/International/ND_v1_zh.pdf>, French<http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/International/ND_v1_fr.pdf>, German<http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/International/ND_v1_de.pdf>, Hindi<http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/International/ND_v1_hi.pdf>, Japanese<http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/International/ND_v1_ja.pdf>, Korean<http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/International/ND_v1_ko.pdf>, Russian<http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/International/ND_v1_ru.pdf>, and Spanish<http://www.accelerationinstitute.org/Nation_Deceived/International/ND_v1_es.pdf>.)

Thank you, Mary, for mentioning Nation Deceived. I agree that Volume I is VERY user friendly and attractive, but I have the opportunity to work at the Belin-Blank Center and could be perceived as biased ;-o

The Templeton Study "How America's schools hold back their brightest students" done through the University of Iowa a few years ago has documented research in Volume 2 about grade and class acceleration. It is probably still available free online at www.nationdeceived.org<http://www.nationdeceived.org>. The researchers were from colleges throughout the United States. The study was apparently translated into many other languages and referenced throughout the world. Volume 1 of the study is very interesting and parent and lay person friendly.

My district, where we currently serve middle schoolers, is looking at ways to add elementary gifted services in the next year or two without adding staff. Current considerations include acceleration, clustering, and blending grades for a self-contained classroom.

Does anyone out there have recent experience with any of these service models at 1-4 grade levels? I'm looking for feedback on the effectiveness of these options as well as suggestions for any other service models we should investigate. I will also need research to back any proposal, so if you have research to back your experiences / ideas, that would also be appreciated.

Feel free to contact me directly at gren_ebert at tccsa.net<mailto:gren_ebert at tccsa.net>. Thanks!
