<p class="MsoNormal">This position serves as Program Manager for the Endangered Species Program within the Wildlife Diversity Unit. The Program's goal is the conservation and recovery of federally threatened and endangered animals and other critically rare
species in the state. This statewide program deals with a diverse group of animals including mammals, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. This position supervises program personnel who gather data in the field and compile information from the literature
and WVDNR scientific collecting permit reports. Program databases containing data on the biology and distribution of species of concern are maintained. Annual reports will be compiled.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The employee designs and implements research projects and long-term monitoring programs to fill data gaps and obtain population trend information that will help make informed decisions regarding federally listed species. Some projects may
be delegated to subordinates, but when necessary, proposals for such work are requested from experts outside the agency. The employee applies information gained from surveys, monitoring, and research to developing conservations strategies and to review proposed

Strong background in plant and animal taxonomy, biology, and ecology is required. A strong background in the natural history of a variety of animal taxa (vertebrates and invertebrates) preferred.

Demonstrated experience developing and presenting scientific information in programs for citizen groups, agency personnel, people in various industries, and to professional/technical groups is essential.
