I'm hiring someone to lead the on-campus vampire bat research and help with all associated projects on cooperative relationships. It's basically a lab manager and a research scientist. It's $65K salary with benefits for 5+ years and hopefully I can fund it forever. Postdoc salary at Ohio State is $48K, and the cost of living is not too bad. My ideal candidate is a postdoc who is excellent at research, very reliable, and wants to study bats, but doesn't want to go the tenure-track trajectory (so they don't leave!). However, to cast the widest possible net, I also want to at least consider people who do want to go into a tenure-track position, and I would even consider exceptional people without a graduate degree.
