[OHIOBWG] Ohio Bat Blitz 2020 Cancelled

Good afternoon,

At the Ohio Bat Working Group meeting this year in January, we had been moving towards planning and hosting a Bat Blitz in Ohio this summer from August 28th to August 30th. Due to the most recent statement sent out by the Ohio Division of Wildlife, there has been a temporary suspension of all mist-netting activities for this summer. Therefore, we will be cancelling the 2020 Ohio Bat Blitz. We still think that this event will have immense benefits for the Ohio Bat Working Group and for bat biologists across the state. Not only will we be able to use this event to investigate under surveyed areas throughout the state, but it is likely to serve as an excellent opportunity for young bat biologists and even the public. So, even though we had to cancel this year's event, we still intend to try to jumpstart what we hope will be an annual program next year. I really appreciate everyone who helped plan and organize the details of this so far this year and for all of you that so rapidly signed up to attend the blitz itself. We hope that everyone has a safe summer and be sure to look out for more information at the next Ohio Bat Working Group meeting or shortly after!
