We hope the field season has treated you well. As you wrap up reports and begin to enter a slower time of year, please consider participating in our bat call survey.

Currently we have received 19 responses. We are hoping for 50 responses by November 1st, 2018. Please consider taking an hour of your time to contribute to this effort. Your responses are important to accurately quantify the accuracy and consistency of  manual call identification.

With current conservation concerns and wide use of acoustic survey techniques, it is critical that researchers and conservation practitioners understand performance of different bat call identification approaches. We are conducting a study to assess the accuracy and consistency of manual bat call identification by current and past practitioners. The results of this study will be used to quantify the accuracy and biases associated with manual call identification. In this survey, you will be asked about your experience level and how often and what methods you use to manually identify bat calls. Next you will be directed to a page to download 61 zero crossing bat sequences and identify each file. Finally, you will be asked a few questions on how you identified these bat calls and your opinion about call identification.

Responses to this survey will be kept anonymous and cannot be linked to you in any way.
