Ecology and Environment, Inc. is a fully integrated environmental consulting firm committed to supporting sustainable development through responsible environmental stewardship. We are seeking a Bat Specialist in our Chicago, Kansas City, Buffalo, or Pittsburgh office.  This position will be responsible for conducting bat habitat, bat acoustic, and mist-net surveys.  Our successful candidate will have experience with regional bat populations and endangered bat species.
Responsibilities:
*     Conducting bat habitat, bat acoustic, and mist-net surveys
*     Identifying bat species, including acoustic species identification
*     Operation and deployment of acoustic detectors
*     Monitoring projects in biologically sensitive areas
*     Data collection, analysis, and report writing
*     Contributions to Habitat Conservation Plans, Environmental Assessments, and Bird and Bat Conservation Strategies
Requirements:
*     Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related discipline
*     2+ years of experience with regional bat populations, identifying bat species, survey protocol,  special status species surveys, and radio tracking
*     Experience with endangered  bat species
*     Preference for candidates with a prior or current listing on a federal endangered species permit allowing capture and handling of Indiana bats or sufficient experience to be added to a permit
*     Ability to travel to project sites
*     Ability to walk for several miles, work in extreme temperatures, rough terrain and work independently in remote areas
*     Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
*     Experience with IPAD and/or Trimble hand-held GPS units; experience with ArcPad preferred
*     CPR/First Aid Training preferred
*     Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
