M.S. Student Position, Bat Research:   A graduate position is available in the lab of Dr. Terry Derting in the Department of Biological Sciences at Murray State University.  In collaboration with the US Forest Service, the successful candidate will develop a MS project focusing on bat ecology in relation to impacts of White Nose Syndrome at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, KY.  The applicant should have previous field experience with bats.  Experience with mist-netting, acoustic sampling, and GIS is desirable.  Student must be able to work long hours at night in hot, humid conditions.  A baccalaureate degree in biology or closely related field is required.  Several Teaching Assistantships will be opening prior to the spring and fall semester; these positions are awarded on a competitive basis.  Funding for summer 2015 will be provided through the US Forest Service.  The student will also be eligible to apply for a Graduate Research Assistantship and other sources of support for graduate students at Murray State University.  Ideally, the applicant will begin the position in January 2015, but a start date in May 2015 is also possible.
