Title: Bat Field Technicians

Location: Grandfather Mountain vicinity, near Banner Elk, NC.

Job Description: Indiana State University is seeking 2 field technicians to assist a graduate student with a Master's project investigating spring time movements of federally endangered Virginia big-eared bats (Corynorhinus townsendii virginianus) near Grandfather Mountain in western North Carolina. Duties will include radio telemetry searches for maternity roosts, night time foraging telemetry, emergence counts of bats exiting roosts, and measuring roost characteristics. Additional duties will include data entry and management, carrying heavy equipment, driving, gear maintenance/decontamination, and other various tasks. Technicians are needed from March 24 through June 15 and can expect to work long shifts including late nights.

Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work well individually and with others as part of a team.
Ability to work long hours including alternating day and night schedule.
Commitment to entire field season (March 24 through June 15, 2014).
Ability to withstand outdoor conditions including cold, ice, and rain.
Ability to hike and navigate in rugged mountainous terrain.
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive radio-telemetry experience.
Data entry experience, including Excel.

Stipend: $4,714 for March 24 to June 15 (12 weeks), plus on-site mileage reimbursements of $0.56/mile. Lodging provided.
