Bats and Wind Energy Program Assistant

Bat Conservation International (BCI) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified biologist for a full-time (40 hours/week), 9-month term position (possibly longer depending on funding) to join BCI's Bats and Wind Energy Program. The selected candidate will report to the Field Projects Manager and will assist in data management, analysis and report writing, project coordination, field technician management, and other related duties. All duties will be accomplished from a remote work site, which may include the candidate's home office and project field site. Laptop, printer, and other essential equipment will be provided. Start date and salary will be based on the availability and qualifications of the selected candidate.
Position details:

*         Temporary/Seasonal: ~ 9 months with possibility of extension

*         Last date to apply: 3/14/2014.

*         Start date: On or near 1 April 2014

*         Salary: Commensurate with experience
The successful candidate must have the following experience and abilities:

*      M.S. degree in biology or related field; or B.S./B.A. plus 5 years' experience

*      Experience with bats/wind energy issues (preferred)

*      Experience managing field technicians

*      Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

*      Ability to identify bird and bats species, particularly of the eastern U.S.

*      Experience with Microsoft Office and GIS software

*      Ability to work atypical hours

*      Ability to carry heavy equipment over rough terrain

*      Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to operate 4WD vehicles
