BatsLIVE is hosting three web seminars for teachers, non-formal educators, and adults as part of BatsLIVE: A Distance Learning Adventure. The webinars are being offered in partnership with the National Wildlife Federation.

- On April 18 (during National Environmental Education Week) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. ET, learn about "Bat Basics," the importance of and threats to bats, and how to attract bats to your habitat.  Presenters include: James Eggers, director of education for Bat Conservation International; Ann Froschauer, National White-Nose Syndrome Communications Leader for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; and Apple Snider, a wildlife biologist with the USDA Forest Service.

- On May 3, experts will provide teachers and others with lessons and activities to use in the classroom and in the field. Presenters include: Rob Mies, founder and executive director of the Organization for Bat Conservation, and Dennis Krusac, endangered species specialist with the USDA Forest Service.

- On October, learn about cave and karst topography. Presenters include:
Cynthia Sandeno, National Cave and Karst Coordinator for the USDA Forest Service; Carol Zokaites, environmental education manager and karst education coordinator for with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation; and Dr. Rick Toomey, director of the Mammoth Cave International Center for Science and Learning.

Also, save the date for a FREE live electronic field trip for students in grades 4 - 8 to be held on May 17 from 1 to 2 p.m. ET. Bats are threatened worldwide, and their colonies and habitats are destroyed because of myths, misinformation, and lack of scientific knowledge and understanding.
Knowledge is the key to their conservation and protection. This program will feature live bats and include information about bats' role in the ecosystem, myths, threats to bats, and how to help these beneficial creatures.
