Nice "red bat and fire" print available.  Don't forget about the joint bat 
meeting in February -- advanced registration is through 1/25/11.

Red bats roost in leaf litter when it gets cold and on many ocassions Rx 
burn crews have reported seeing bats fly up out of the litter in front of 
the advancing fire.  This has been captured in art and is available at the

For the 2009 Missouri Bat Blitz, artist Kathy Dickson donated her time, 
energy and talent to produce a beautiful painting of an eastern red bat (
Lasiurus borealis) rising above its Missouri winter hibernation site of 
leaf litter during a prescribed burn. This original art was purchased at 
the Blitz silent auction by Mr. James Gracey. Because a number of people 
have expressed an interest in acquiring a print, Kathy and James 
graciously agreed to allow numbered and signed prints to be sold to 
generate funds supporting the SBDN Student Travel Award. What an 
opportunity to acquire an 8"x 10" print of this wonderful painting while 
helping deserving students attend the annual meeting of the North American 
Society for Bat Research.
SBDN has decided to "pre-sale" prints for the Joint Meeting being held 
February 23-25, 2011 in Louisville, Kentucky. Persons ordering a print(s) 
may take delivery at the meeting or, for a slightly higher fee, receive 
print(s) by postal mail. Prints will be issued in sequence based on the 
date orders are received. Only one run of signed and numbered prints will 
be made. Pre-payment by check, money order or SBDN PayPal required (see 
below). Prints are not framed.
Only 2 prints will be available for silent bid during the SBDN Auction at 
the February Meeting.
Price and how to order:
Print picked up at the Joint Meeting: $25 each.
Print mailed: $30 each (Note: additional prints mailed in same package $25 
each).
Online: orders may be placed online at Paypal (no account needed). During 
checkout, please, indicate your preferred delivery method (postal mail or 
meeting delivery) in the "Special intructions to merchant" box. Note that 
online payments are charged a $1 fee to offset the cost of credit card 
processing.

About the artist: Kathy Dickson learned to love nature from her father who 
took his family camping, hiking, backpacking, and fishing to enjoy all 
that nature had to offer. She began painting when she was nine and has 
painted professionally since 1988. Kathy has been fortunate to win many 
awards, including the 1989 Missouri and 1991 Mississippi (Governor's 
Edition) Waterfowl Stamp and Prints; 1991-92 Iowa Habitat and Trout Stamp 
and Prints; 1991 and 1993 National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) Grand 
National Art Print competitions; 1993 Illinois Ducks Unlimited Artist of 
the Year; 1993 Florida Turkey Stamp; 2001 NWTF's Artist of the Year, and 
1995, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, and 2009 Missouri Ducks Unlimited Sponsor
