Position Overview
The Ohio State University and the Office of Student Life create extraordinary student experiences. The Student Life Student Wellness Center works to provide preeminent services at The Ohio State University that enhance the well-being of students and their communities.
The Associate Director of Student Wellness will provide strategic vision, development, implementation and evaluation for individual coaching and intervention programs and services, and related resiliency initiatives, utilizing a holistic wellness framework, and working with intersecting topics such as financial wellness, stress reduction, mindfulness, nutrition, alcohol and other drug use, and other related student health and wellbeing indicators. The Associate Director is responsible for planning a national conference for financial well-being, teaching an academic course for incoming financial wellness coaches, and provides leadership to individual coaching programs such as financial coaching, BASICS screenings, wellness coaching, nutrition coaching and other resiliency-oriented programs.
Position Environment
The Student Wellness Center is housed organizationally within the Office of Student Life and physically within the Recreation and Physical Activity Center (RPAC). The Student Wellness Center team is led by the Director of the Student Wellness Center, and includes functional areas of alcohol and other drug prevention programming, recovery programs, nutrition coaching, financial coaching, wellness coaching, safer sex initiatives, civility programs, violence prevention, and holistic wellness outreach.
The Student Wellness team consists of 13 full-time staff members, ~25 student employees, and over 120 peer educators. The staff culture is characterized by creativity, inclusiveness, excellence, respect, high energy and expectations, evidence-based practice, and commitment to well-being. The Student Wellness Center is fast-paced and forward thinking organization.
Performance Objectives
Specifically, throughout the first 12 months, the Associate Director will:
1. Lead and direct the planning, development, implementation facilitation and evaluation of evidence-based collaborative, culturally inclusive and holistic wellness programs and services for diverse student, faculty and staff and other stakeholder populations.
2. Provide direct supervision, guidance and professional development support for full-time staff and advise and mentor part-time student assistants, interns and volunteers.
3. Lead the planning and implementation of a national conference on collegiate financial well-being, teach an academic course for incoming financial wellness coaches, and is involved in national studies pertaining to financial wellness.
4. Develop partnerships to further enhance the well-being of Ohio State students, specifically through programs such as nutrition coaching, financial coaching, BASICS, and wellness coaching.
5. Within 30 days, have established effective working relationships with Student Wellness Center staff members, volunteer coaches, and supervisor.
6. Within 90 days, have built a foundation of knowledge around the various services within scope of position, campus resources and key partnerships, and will also have demonstrated effective advising and training skills, administrative and budget accountability, and be prepared to implement evaluation and assessment plans.
