[Natfinwellness] Student loan refinancing

Hello all:  Sorry to come into the tail end of this conversation but I am currently at a state financial aid conference and ironically just spoke yesterday with one of the lenders offering the refinance student loan.  she agrees that the students will give up some of their benefits but made a point to state that they are not after recent graduates but those that have been out of college for a few years, may be married with families and are still struggling financial to make ends meet.  So potentially those students age 30 and over will be their target group.

Hello Jennifer,

There are both pros & cons to refinancing, but what we really try to impress on students is that they will lose certain repayment options or even loan forgiveness options if they refinance with a private company if they have federal loans.

While working with a graduating student this morning, he asked about a student loan refinancing company called Earnest.  He is thinking of applying but wanted to know more about them.  Does anyone have any experience or heard anything about Earnest? Any info I can pass on to him would be great.
