I'm not sure if this is solely to create a credit score or not.  But, as a
landlord, a written letter of recommendation from a prior landlord is worth
its "weight in gold".  So, if you are looking for a way for tenants to find
housing you might ask the landlord if they'd take verifiable written letters
of recommendation in lieu of a credit score.  Another way to get around the
credit score/report issue is to offer more cash as part of the deposit and
then invite the landlord to come for regular inspections.  My experience as
a landlord is that bad credit isn't the only thing I look for when trying to
screen potential tenants.  I want to know that they are going to take care
of the property I manage.

I checked with my expert again. Here's what he said --

Yes.  I'm pretty sure they only report to TransUnion and it shows up as
a "RentalKarma" account rather than an actual rental account with your
property mngt company.  Very limited value considering 1 of 3 credit
bureaus and that anything other than the newest FICO score doesn't
consider rental trade in their models.

I s/w their salesperson and asked them about their FCRA compliance
procedures and he reacted like I was asking in a foreign language.   

I also find the lack of a "here's how it works" to be a bit deceptive.

I hadn't heard about them until your message. It sounds a bit too good to be
true. I checked the bbb.org website. There have been complaints of them not
doing what they said they would.
