That is fine. Multicast is only for collective communication as you mentioned.

Also, I needed to specify --disable-mcast during the configuration because of a warning. Our cluster is just 2 machines without a IB switch but just the cards. Do you think would that effect the point-to-point communication ? I assume collective communication will be effected only.

If you configure MVAPICH2 without any additional configuration, it will use IB. You can specify MV2_SHOW_HCA_BINDING to find out the HCA being used by the processes.

Hello,
I built mvapich2-2.3.1 on our x86_64 cluster (CentOS 7) which have Mellanox`s IB and ethernet options. I did not specify any configuration flags.

My app compiles and runs fine but I cannot be sure about which network option is used. I am checking strace output and I cannot see any call to Mellanox or IB libraries.
How can I be sure the IB is actually used ? If it is not, how can I configure mvapich2 to use it ?
