I believe you are referring that "PSM is just recommended (as per the user guide)", not the other way around as you 
have indicated in your e-mail. 

QLogic adapters deliver best performance with PSM, not over OFED verbs. You can double-check about this 
with QLogic folks. 

That's why MVAPICH2 support for QLogic adapters is available over PSM.

     Hello,
     I was wondering if there is any way of forcing MVAPICH to use OFED
verbs with QLogic HCAs. PSM is not just recommended (as per the
user-guide), it seems to be the only way MVAPICH communicates over
QLogic cards. I did static visual inspection and some tracings; but I
would like to hear a confirmation from you guys to be sure. No way to
build/run MVAPICH for QLogic over OFED verbs?
