[mvapich-discuss] Sub: help to run osu benchmark at worst &best case node pairing over two nodes

Hello Akila,

Processes running on different cores in two nodes will lead to different
performance. For instance, if you have two sockets on each node, it is
possible that one of the sockets are farther away from the InfiniBand HCA
than the other socket. In such a scenario, when processes are bound to
cores residing on a socket that is farther away from the IB HCA, they will
show poorer communication performance when compared to a scenario where
processes are bound to cores residing on a socket that is closer to the IB
HCA.

In MVAPICH2, you can use the MV2_CPU_MAPPING environment variable to bind
processes to different cores. The following section of the userguide has
more information on CPU binding.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,
Hari.
