You are using MVAPICH2 1.6 which is very old.

I do have 1.7 and 1.8, but neither can run codes with > 64 cores :( Looks
like the registration cache problem (which we initially noticed in 1.6) is
still there. I am now re-compiling 1.8 with disabling registration cache
and will let you know if it changes anything.
