<a href="http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1010976.shtml">Historical series 'Red Star Over China' to premiere on Hunan Satellite TV next week</a></p>
<p>Historical series <em>Red Star Over China</em>, which follows the evolution of the Communist Party throughout the 1930s and 1940s through the eyes of US journalist Edgar Snow (1905-1972), is scheduled to debut on China's Hunan Satellite Television next week.</p>
<p>Unlike traditional patriotic series featuring Chinese heroes, <em>Red Star Over China</em>, starring Chinese actor Huang Haibing as <a href="http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/834099.shtml" target="_blank">Mao Zedong</a> and US actor George Christopher Tronsrue as Snow, looks at the rise of red power in China through the eyes of Snow and his wife Helen Foster Snow.</p>
<p>Snow, the first Western journalist to interview Communist Part leaders, arrived in China in 1928, after which he met with Communist leaders including Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province in 1936. He later wrote the well-known <em>Red Star Over China</em>, which became the go-to-work for introducing early Communism in China to the rest of the world.</p>
<p>Co-produced by the TV and Art Center of Beijing's PLA Zhanyou Song and Dance Ensemble, the Publicity Department of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the CPC and dozens of other agencies and groups, the TV series will feature a series of major historical events such as the Battle of Songhu, known as one of the bloodiest battles during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45), and the Red Army's Long March. The latter is especially poignant considering this year marks the 80th anniversary of the Long March.</p>
<p>"It is of great importance to reflect on the Party's history during such a special time," one of the show's producers was quoted in a sina.com report from Tuesday.</p>
<p>"And it also prompts us to rethink what faith means for people in life today."</p>
