<div>
<div dir="ltr">Dear Colleagues,
<div>I wanted to alert you to events that are happening on the University of Michigan's campus.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>A Latinx student group, La Casa, has been pressuring the university to respond to the needs of Latinx students, faculty and staff since last Fall, when they were subjected to <a href="http://www.latinorebels.com/2017/09/04/university-of-michigan-latinx-students-greeted-with-fck-latinos-and-maga-graffiti/" target="_blank">hate
 speech</a> at the start of the term.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>On Monday they submitted a list of demands to University Administration. They will be sharing these demands with the Regents at their next meeting in a few weeks time. You can read a story about these efforts
<a href="https://www.michigandaily.com/section/campus-life/latino-students-send-demands-representation-u-administrators" target="_blank">
here</a>.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>If you'd like to see a copy of their demands (which are beautifully cogent) just shoot me an email and I can share the document with you.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I am deeply inspired by the commitment, intelligence, and perseverance of these students, they are actively shaping their future against great odds...</div>
