Segawa rose to fame helming some of the hit comedies of the 1960s and 1970s, particular in the "Train 列車" and "Tour 旅行” series, and worked with many of the great comedians. He also directed a lot for television. He was a favorite of some of my colleagues when I arrived in Japan in the early nineties, who had formed the Segawa Masaharu Study Group. They donated their bulletin to the University of Iowa Library.
